Bullying. No Way! Pocket Cards
(21 May) All schools in the NT will be issued with the Bullying. No Way! pocket cards for distribution to students from Years 6-10. The card reinforces the message that bullying and harassment are not acceptable behaviours at school or in the community. More
SAMS Behaviour Module
(17 May) During this term all NT government schools will have been receiving an upgrade of the Behaviour Module of SAMS which has been rolled out by the SAMS Team, Technology, Information and Planning.
We have placed a link to the SAMS Wellbeing & Behaviour website to the Safe Schools NT site for your convenience.
Safe Schools NT resources
(29 April) The latest ‘information for Schools Code of Behaviour’ and ‘information for parents and students’ are now available through Student Services. All schools will be receiving a copy of the updated brochures through internal mail shortly.
There is also a limited number of posters ‘Out school says NO to bullying’ and ‘Everyone has the right to feel safe at school’ available. If you require additional SSNT resources, please email the numbers you require to anita.davidson@nt.gov.au.
Reducing Bullying Package
(20 March) We are currently in phase one of developing a Territory wide Reducing Bullying and Empowering Bystander Package. During Term 2 and 3, all students from Year 6-10 in all jurisdictions will be involved in learning about bullying and in particular bystander behaviour, they will also receive Bullying. No Way! pocket card with some simple suggestions should they experience bullying.
The Wellbeing Behaviour and School Counsellor staff will introduce the cards to schools staff and parents and begin discussions with schools about the best way to introduce the topic to students. Wellbeing and Behaviour Officers are available to assist schools to review their anti-bullying policies should they need to do so. This is the card that all students in Years 6-10 will receive, it has simple strategies printed on the reverse side.

Celebrating NSSW 2007
(December) For the past two years The Department of Education, Science and Training has promoted National Safe Schools Week (NSSW) in schools around Australia. In 2007, 42 NT schools were involved.
Two Territory schools Humpty Doo and Alawa Primary went on to get their Art Work published on the National Web site Bullying. No Way!
Launch of SafeSchools NT (SSNT) Code of Behaviour
(1 June) The SSNT Code of Behaviour was launched by Minister Paul Henderson on 1 June 2007 as part of the National Safe Schools Week (NSSW) held from 25 May - 1 June.
The NSSW promoted school-oriented events about caring and supporting and looking out for others. The Department of Education, Science and Training awarded 42 grants to NT schools towards school activities.
The NT also had representation at national events for NSSW including the official launch at Parliament House, the Parent Forum in Adelaide, the Teacher Education Event on the Gold Coast and the Student Forum in Canberra.
